About Us

A1 EMS was established in February 2021, when their community lost its local private ambulance service after the county signed an exclusive contract with another EMS agency. This contract ultimately forced the local ambulance service to close its doors. The owners of A1 EMS who have been heavily involved within law enforcement and the fire service were watching the citizens of their community suffer while waiting for emergency medical response from the newly contracted ambulance provider. With the insufficient EMS coverage in that area, the community’s medical emergencies prompted an ambulance response from outlying areas which came with extended response times, often in excess of fifty minutes. It was then, the owners of A1 EMS approached the county board asking for an ambulance to be required in their community, however those requests fell on deaf ears. After a long discussion, the owners of A1 EMS put their heads together and decided to start their own ambulance service where they could help fulfill the need within the community. They began by purchasing three ambulances then set out on their journey with hard work and dedication to provide this vital service to the community.

A1 Emergency Medical Services currently owns and operates three command vehicles, two utility vehicles, ten ambulances, and employs approximately 35 personnel. We stock our ambulances with a combination of power Ferno and Stryker Stretchers, Zoll ProPaq MD and X Series Monitors, DefibTech Mechanical CPR Devices, AirTraq Video Laryngoscopes, Portable Mechanical Suction Devices, and routinely upgrade equipment to provide the best quality care for each patient we come in contact with. We pride ourselves on being a family oriented service while providing progressive and professional care to the communities we serve. A1 EMS is an ALS licensed ground ambulance transport service licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
